Paul Walters runs the London Marathon

Report from Monday 6th February 2006

Progress made

I managed to complete the Tadworth 10 this year in a personal best time of 1 hour 10 minutes 59 seconds. 9 days ago I ran in the South of England Cross Country Championships, and was very pleased with my time of 1 hour 7 minutes and 11 seconds over a tough 9Km course.

Three weeks ago I suffered from a minor muscle pull in my lower left calf, and I often feel burns in my achilles tendon

I have been trying to up the weekly milage, and am only up to about 30 miles a week at the moment. I ran a hard 13 mile training run yesterday, but have not run further yet.

I did not run in the Chichester 10K which I was entered for yesterday - I thought it more important to complete a longer training run. I am entered for the Wolkingham Half Marathon next Sunday - maybe I'll run that!

My idea this year is to beat 3 hours 30 minutes by trying to loosely run a 3 hour 15 minute schedule. I'm sure that I'm not properly sticking to the schedule, but I still feel that I should be able to beat 3 hours 30 minutes.
