Paul Walters runs the London Marathon |

Another PB and a hard run
I ran a the Jimmy James Handicap last Thursday, which is the one and only time I have run in this Reigate Priory AC handicap series this season. The distance is about 4.86 miles I believe - a two lap course with a 1 mile long hill in it. I ran the course last Thursday in 30:55, which beats my time last year by five seconds, so I hope that this is an indicator that my running is on track this year. I went for a 16 mile run on Sunday, which was supposed to be a fast 16 miles on roads to access my pace for the marathon. Unfortunately I got rather tired after 12 miles, but I managed to run 13 miles over a course incorporating hills within 1 hour 30 seconds. The person who I ran with has advised me to try 7 minute 20 seconds miling pace, so I've ordered a GPS receiver from Amazon, and I'm hoping that that will pace me during training so I can judge this pace better. I was a bit slow during training last night - the Sunday run had taken it's toll. I should be out for a slow 20 mile run this coming Sunday. |
