Paul Walters runs the London Marathon |
Report from Thursday 17th April 2003
Starting again already
Since finishing the 2003 London Marathon last Sunday my legs and feet have been quickly recovering, and I went down to the Reigate Priory Athletic Club running track this evening to take part in a session - the first time I have done this since January. I really enjoyed running with people and seeing all of the runners and coach again, but after getting through about a quarter of the session, my knee started to hurt, so I gave up. This problem only came on last week and was made a lot worse by running the marathon, but I'm sure that it'll be gone in a week or so. I'm really looking forward to going down to the club regularly for running sessions from now on. I'm going to start building on my fitness and speed, and will stave off the usual injuries hopefully by regular stretching and physiotherepy treatment. My aims for the year are to run the Dorking 10, the Great North Run, the Great South Run, the Tadworth 10 and the Gatwick Half, finishing off by running the London Marathon 2004 in my best ever marathon time! I am currently finishing off collecting the sponsorship money from the marathon just gone. The total has now risen above £1,000, which I am very pleased with. Hopefully in the next two weeks, I will have finished all of the fund raising activities. |
