Paul Walters runs the London Marathon |

Going very well
I have been building fitness from April through to my current state, and I am fitter now than I ever have been. I managed to do a PB at the Worthing 10K, followed by a PB at the Dysart Dash 10K, and then the Elmbridge 10K, and finally I acheived a PB of 38:47 at the Yateley 10K, paced around by a kind running colleague of mine. I have followed this up by running a PB of 68 minutes and 7 seconds at the Swineshead 10 (over 10 miles), followed up 7 days later (last Sunday) by a PB at the Great North Run of 1 hour 34 minutes 9 seconds over the half marathon distance. I now have a rather sore left calf muscle, but I hope that this will take 3 or 4 days to repair, so I can get back into training. There are a number of running races coming up, including the Great North Run, the Barnes Green Half, the Brighton 10K, as well as the Jimmy James Handicap season and the cross country races for Reigate Priory AC and Bedford Harriers AC. I have managed to collect a bit more money towards my collection for next year. |
